Head to the National Navy UDT-SEAL Museum, located near the original training site of the Navy Frogmen during WWII, and delve in to the history of the mysterious Navy SEALS. Discover real artifacts and test your skills on the obstacle course.
Stop at Little Jim Bridge Bait & Tackle shop nestled along A1A and the Indian River Lagoon – it was once the guard shack for the military training base during WWII and is now an old Florida-style bait shop and local fisherman hang out featuring casual food and live local music.
Beaches & Outdoors
There are so many outdoor activities at your fingertips on North Hutchinson Island. First, grab lunch at Sharky’s, the island’s only restaurant then head outdoors. Three state parks offer miles of beach and beautiful trails. At Avalon State Park, pick the picture perfect spot to soak up the sun on this quaint, uncrowded beach. At Fort Pierce Inlet State Park, choose an adventure – hiking or surfing – explore trails within the park or catch a wave at the area’s most consistent surf break. Those looking for a tropical, wetland habitat hike with their dog can check out Wildcat Cove. Be sure to look for wading birds. Pepper Park Beach is a local favorite stocked with park amenities and great for snorkeling and diving just off-shore.
